For the most part it won't make a difference as long as the car is running at normal compression ratios. When you experience pinging in the engine because of poor fuel or to low of octane then yes, you will loose mileage. Pre detonation is not just harming your valves, it's letting pressure escape from your cylinder at the wrong time, so instead of the energy of the fuel combusting being used to propel the vehicle, it is being wasted. If this is not happening, then you are gaining nothing with higher or lower octane. One thing I do have to mention is not all gasoline is created equal. Most of all the refineries pretty much make gasoline the same way, they just have different additive packages. There is also blended gasoline which is made of different components from various petrochem processes. These side streams are collected, then mixed together in proper ratios to meet gasoline specifications. I wouldn't say these are all the same. Some small companies out there that do this put some real garbage in there. Another point that will make a bigger difference than octane is the fuel being moderately fresh. If you buy fuel in the summer that was left over from the winter because the gas station is in the middle of no where, you may run into issues with vapor locking in your car. The winter grades gasolines have a higher vapor pressure and are more volatile, so may turn to a vapor in you fuel system before they are supposed to in the summer. The opposite applies as well. The lower vapor summer fuel may not vaporize when it needs to in the winter leading to poor combustion.

haha i did this with my mare. the thing i cannot stress enough is ground poles!!!! canter them, trot them. if you dont, your horse will rush over jumps and be sloppy and thats not what you want. move up to small cross rails with ground poles on either side of them. always get the trot first before cantering over jumps, even if it is way more fun. when you have the cross rails down, add a small vertical onto the end. never push your horse though. it is a big step for them. also, a great training method is jumping XC jumps. tiny logs are great for getting your horse to pick his feet up and actually lift over jumps. good luck and always be understanding. also, HAVE FUN!

Aluminum hydroxide for CRF cats--can it hurt more than it helps?

My girlfriend's cat was diagnosed with CRF a while back and she's been treating it as recommended by the vet (low-protein wet food, vitamins and aluminum hydroxide suspension to control phosphorus levels). The cat did ok for a while but recently took a turn for the worse. It refused to eat anything, even after trying every cat food on the market; after several days of this we resorted to force-feeding it by mashing up soft food and into his mouth with a syringe, but he would just vomit it up most of the time and not retain anything. The cat would just sit in the same spot all day, not moving, with its head down, not responding to touch, etc......it broke her heart. Eventually, she decided it was probably best to let the cat go; she decided to give it one or two more days where she would not force-feed or give the cat its medicine that it clearly hated to make it as comfortable as possible for their last days together. Lo and behold, the very next day, the cat started walking around again; a bit unsteady and slow, but it was moving. The next day it started nibbling at food and drinking more water. Now, the cat will eat with some regularity (although not nearly as much as it needs to; like maybe an ounce or less a day) and generally seems much happier; exploring the house, seeking attention, etc......I am wondering if the aluminum hydroxide could have been causing an allergic reaction or something with the cat? Why would simply stopping this improve the cat's condition so much? We've stopped going to the vet she started at because, for a variety of reasons, he was a jerk and didn't seem to know what he was talking about--we've had much better luck on the support groups online, and are now looking for another vet. I just was curious as to whether anyone else has had this experience with an aluminum hydroxide suspension, where it seems to do more harm than good. For now, we are just watching the cat intently and trying to make him as happy as possible; we don't want to do harm by not giving him the medicine but while on it his quality of life was terrible and he seemed listless and depressed all the time. Any help would be appreciated; thanks!

I've always wondered what people think when they see me and what I'm labeled as. I'm not a can so I shouldn't have a label bla bla bla yeah I know but I was just wondering. Well I like to draw and I love to listen to music. Some of my favorite artists are Santigold, Florence + the Machine, Friendly Fires, Imogene Heap, Adele, Fleetwood Mac, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and others. I usually draw realistic looking people but I used to draw a lot of anime as well. I don't really watch much tv or play video games. I usually just daydream and sunbathe (I'm always freezing cold). I don't really like starting drama but I like watching it unfold. I laugh everytime something gets chaotic even though I should probably be stressed out. I dress for comfort and most of the cloths I wear are Aeropostle, Rue 21 (their jeans are the only ones long enough that don't have high waters but also aren't super baggy), and Wal-mart shirts but I could probably match up my old torn shirts, too short jeans, and peace/heart neckleaces and mood rings better than most girls could with a whole new wardrobe from an expensive outlet mall. The places I like hanging out with my friend's the most is the cafeteria and the gym or outside in the front of the school. The most I do with my hair is just put in a ponytail or a side bun. I'm more comfortable in large crowds than I am with 2 or 3 people unless they're my best friends. I hate texting and talking on the phone because I always clam up or forget what to say and texting just takes too long. I don't want to grow up and I really don't want to drive because that's a major skill people need to learn when they're growing up. Oh and I've recently found a facination with taking pictures. I'm not very social unless I'm spoken to first. People kind of have to try really hard to get me to open up to them but when I do I'm a really loyal friend and the sweetest of all sweethearts :). Of course I know I probably look mean and not very friendly on the outside but this rules out any snobby or clique-ish people trying to befriend me. Welp good luck. Why are people so vehement about denying Blacks their historical accomplishments?

I am a historical researcher and I have noticed that other racial groups over the last 40 years have been given their "dues" in contributing to civilization. I.E the aztec and chinese achievements were supposed to be a mystery to the modern world & there was even speculation that aliens built their civilization. Until recently they were not credited with their accomplishments. But Blacks on the other hand have been vehemently denied their civilization's achievement's all the way from Egypt to Zimbabwe. Note: Before the 17 and 1800's Egyptians(in the earlier part of their kindgdom before the Ptolemies) , Moors, Nubians and the early Ethiopians were considered black africans i.e shakespeare, herodotus, etc etc all ancient historians gave detailed accounts. But now even with overwhelming evidence people are slow to give them credit. Why is this? I wonder that now that we alll have our cake why can't they have theirs as well

If you shelter a child too long...U are denying them important abilities in their own lives! If they are sheltered from things that really happen in the real world..then, when they are faced w/something, they have no idea how to deal w/it! Which will cause them stress! Y do you think teenagers feel that HS is more stressful then it was in my day (back in the early '90s)? Because they have no idea what it is to b stressed! They have always gotten trophies...whether they win or loose! They have always gotten ribbons for just entering a contest! They have never had to deal w/the stress of loosing! So, when they are in HS and there is REAL competition for things...they get stressed! I am the mother of 3 daughters..now aged 17, 14 and 11. They have been watching horror movies, listening to EMINEM and watching (or reading) the news for as long as I can remember! And they are well adjusted kids! So, I think that there is a certain degree of sheltering that needs to happen! Like keeping a toddler from putting a fork in a light socket! But otherwise, I think they need to experience things in life so they develop skills to deal w/them!

If the further north you live, the lighter you are, and the further south you live, the darker you are, why?

Ok, so I've heard many people talk about how northern whites are lighter than southern whites and blacks are dark because they're in Africa and the reason the white race evolved is because a black person went over to Europe and got really light. So, if all this is the case, how come I'm not getting any lighter? I live in Wisconsin and during the summer, I spend all my time in the very cold basement and rarely leave it and only come out to hang out with friend during the night hours because I can't stand the sun nor the heat. For the few times I am actually in it, I shade myself. So my question is, why am I not getting any lighter if the aforementioned ertion are true? Arowana racing?

I have 2 Silver Arowana in my 75 gallon tank. Having read a previous article about arowana jumping, I need help in Arowana behavior. I know what is legal and not so please give me educated answers. I have done extensive reading up on them, but I cannot find any articles on thier particular behavior patterns. My bigger one is almost a foot long now, and prefers to eat Rosies. The smaller one is about eight inches long, and prefers crickets. There are two decent sized oscars in there with them, an Irian Jaya Tiger barb, 2 7 inch Irid sharks, one good sized lavendar Gourami, male, and an ortment of pleco's and cat's for cleaning. The bigger one looks like he is having speed races back and forth in the aquarium, and the smaller one looks sick. He will move around, but sometimes will sit dormant at the top. Ammonia level reading of .2 and nitrite at .3. I cannot seem to get it to zero. Advice? Please be very specific.

My mum does not give a crap about me?

Ok here is the problem. Almost two years ago I left my ex finally after 11 yrs of hell. I was single for about 6 months and then this really great guy that I had always kind of liked showed up. Basic economics really - you spend too much, pot is drained, nothing left for the lean and mean times. How many times has Labour done this before - nearly bankrupt the country - nearly every time they have got in power. Brown the Clown is either clueless or a good liar - just look at the way the economy has plunged in only a matter of weeks and he thinks we are well placed to withstand a global recession/depression. The bit that really makes me mad is that he thinks we (the people) do not see through his lies and deception. Blackberry curve or nokia astound?!?

i have tmobile and i really want a new phone but i cant decide between the blackberry curve or the nokia astound. they both cost the same so thats not really a problem. the nokia has the ovi app store and the camera in the front but its only compatible with other nokia astounds, maning i couldnt use skype or oovoo with anyone and i could only video chat with them if they have the same phone as me. its all touch screen and i like that because im a really big texter so i can just turn it to the side to type anything, its just a pretty long phone. on the other hand, i hear blackberrys are REALLY good and they are like an iphone, or just as good as one. i love how it looks and the shape of it but im worried hat the keyboard would be a problem for texting because the keys look small. im usually on social networks alot so im not sure which would be better. if you've ever had these phones please tell me what you would reccomend and why, im having a hard time trying to decide!!

Its mainly because its a ground combat war. SFs are the best trained to deal with these situations. Its seems this is the way war is going to be for a while. They are even extended AF basic training so that we can get more training to deal with this type of combat because we are being used more on the ground then we are in the air.

i bought an abercrombie hoodie on ebay. well i always wear a size large in their clothes and they always fit a little loose, sometimes i buy medium. well all my hoodies that are large from a&f are 20 inches across. i got the one from ebay today and it was so tight i barely could zip it. it was so tight on the arms it made my arms hurt. i thought they made a mistake and it was from the kids store. i looked up the measurements for kids and it's 17.5 inches across the chest, which is what this one is. the tag is still there though and it says womens large but i know it's not. is there a chance it could be a counterfeit item?

Raw diets are really bad for dogs. They can produce toxins that the poor pups can't digest. The big manufacterer companies don't tell clients this because they'll loose money. In that case id go with teddy, just because he seems to have better confirmation and of course is younger. If you want a horse that has had all the time to train her put into her already and just want a friend you you can ride casually and hang out with but also not have her for an extremely long time then id go with crystal. What are the chances on recovering from brain damage?

A friend of mine recently got into a car accident where the car hit a center divider and flipped over. He was on his way to work midday. Right now he's conscious but there was severe brain damage to the point where he can't function. For example, "there's no one home".... He's constantly moving around, eyes are open but can't function like a normal person would. The doctors said that he's going to need a metal plate to cover the lossed part of his skull... If it were me I would start slowly. I would ask her out by saying it's for all the help she has given you and it is your way of saying thank you. ON CONCRETE IT GOES FINE, NOT IN THE GR. I REPLACED THE BELT. THE SPRING IS ATTACHED TO THE ARM THAT MOVES THE GEAR BOX ,ROTATING THE GEAR BOX ON THE AXEL WHICH TIGHTENS THE BELT. THE SPRING IS FASTENED TO THE CABLE AND IS NOT REMOVABLE. WHEN THE COVER OF THE BEARING WENT THROUGH THE RING AND PINION, IT TOOK THE TEETH OFF OF THEM. I keep on wondering about this whole generation thing. I was born in 1987 but I just don't feel like someone who would be a gen-y type of person. For one, I was raised in a society where divorce was really on the rise (my parents being a good example), happen to be very independent, don't really care for cell phones (and have a love-hate thing going on w/ text messaging), and not everyone was suddenly expecting children when I graduated from high school (gen-y is the "echo boom", right?). I've noticed that a lot of people who were born circa 1990 and after, were the ones raised in nurtured homes, are not the sharing-type, and know way more about technology then me, my family members, and friends who are all the same age or 2 years max. older then me. Anyone else feel this way, too?

Its pretty good.... the part 'to shield them from the icy air' is a good description. However the last too sentences are a bit too plain. To make them more interesting you could try and say something like "As we walked down the street it started to snow, the large snowflakes pounding against ......." and then continue it. Just try to vary your sentence beginnings and add a bit more description and length to some sentences. OVerall I'd say its a good start, only needs a couple changes :)

2 very different personality types. As long as you work for this company, it's your job to do whatever you can to make it better. I suggest you learn to adapt your approach to her by holding your tongue sometimes (if it's not going to make things better, why put yourself in the cross fires?). Another way of saying that is "pick your battles." She was hired for this position for a reason; perhaps the focus was on bringing in more sales while you're focused on the quality of care. I'm not saying she's great, just trying to point out a different perspective. If she's increasing sales, the higher ups might like her performance. Why would my kitten have diarrhea?

I just bough a siamese kitten from a pet store a week ago today. They told me she's has been de-wormed and her she shot. They also give me a 3lb. bag of Precise kitten food. I have a feeling its the recipe your using because I like to compare my homemade baking results with box mixes, and usually, box mixes produce muffin-shaped cupcakes. With my baking, I usually, like the other person said, fill up the cupcake liners more, instead of making more cupcakes (so 16 cupcakes would be like 12 large cupcakes). Also, I'm not sure if you're doing this, but don't even/smooth out the cupcake batter in each well. If you leave it alone after you dump it in, it should probably rise to make a dome shape. Finally, about the cupcakes being hard, I have two tips. First, make cupcake recipes that are strictly for cupcakes (they aren't derived from/based off of a cake recipe). Second, some recipes just come out bad. Just try a bunch and decide which flavor, shape, etc. you like the best.

Why is it when i start my car after leaving it park for week i get some sounds coming from the engine fan-belt?

i noticed the noise goes away after the car has been left running for some time, i am now worried as someone told me i might have a problem with my valve setting while i strongly suspect its the engine fan-belt that is giving the sound, i say this because when i add some water to the belt when i freshly start the car the noise goes away but resumes shortly as soon as the water dries from the fan-belt. the sounds is sort of intermittent tapping that goes away when the engine runs for a while as soon as i let the engine run for up to 4-5 minutes.

She has many late payments on her account and a few collections but these happened when she was previously married, I'm paying off collections for her now. Think about it, if the universe is trully as big as it is then there must be some other life from out there. My 1990 eagle talon turbo awd stalled when I was driving and won't start again. Any ideas?

my car is a 90 eagle talon turbo awd. I was driving as usual one day, then suddenly it died. It won't start again. I had it towed home. The engine still turns over and it still cranks. The check engine light came on. My mechanic suspects it's the fuel pump is faulty, as the engine is not getting any fuel in. Tips for living without hot water?

For hand sanitizing, use some of those antibacterial wipes or the sanitizing gel. For pet-washing, take the pet to a groomer, pet self-wash place, or a friend's house, only when they really need it. For washing yourself, get a plastic bucket, say two gallons. Heat a large pan of water on the stove, add it to cold water in the bucket, take it into the tub or shower. Get a washcloth and soap yourself up, use a cup to pour water to rinse yourself. You'll be surprised how little warm water you really need. For doing dishes, same process as the 'shower', and at least you have running water to rinse them in even if it's cold.

I'm certainly not saying that ALL British people are prejudiced against people in the US, but it seems like there is a lot of it. What is your opinion about the practice of praising volunteers today over draftees in the past?

Mine is simple. It is nonsense. Our History is full of examples of volunteers who failed and outstanding draftees. I don't support a draft unless it is revised to make it much fairer than the past and loop holes like student deferments for example closed. Cheney used that repeatedly to avoid Vietnam service. The only two loop holes I would leave intact are only son and conscientious objector status. This brings me to my example. Most draftees from the Civil War to Vietnam served as well as volunteers. The names on war memorials are all dead and they don't have draftee or volunteer beside them. It is a myth WWII and WWI were volunteers wars. Both had a large number of draftees. In combat troops don't have the luxury to go over whether the person next to them was a volunteer or drafted. They fight to survive, for their unit pride, and for their friends survival. Not for political slogans. Anyone who has experienced this knows the truth of this statement. For one example Sgt. Alvin York was a draftee in WWI. He originally seriously considered refusing to serve for conscientious objector reasons. He had to be convinced service was not unchristian. Then he proved an outstanding soldier. He won the Medal of Honor and several allied decorations for an action in the Argonne. York killed thirty Germans and forced the surrender of two hundred others while armed with a bolt action rifle and regulation pistol. The Germans had the same weaponary as well as many machine guns. They were a machine gun battlion. In WW I these were crack troops in all armies. York's squad was pinned down and he was the only one in position to resist. There are many examples of gallantry by draftees and there are many examples in our history when volunteers did not perform well in action. Are pet rats happier kept in a pair, or a group?

On August 18th, i got 2 hairless rats (Jack and Oreo--they're brothers). About 2 weeks later, i got a hooded rex (Shyloh), so that he could keep the hairless ones warm during the cool weather. About a week after that, I noticed that Shyloh was playing a littlle too rough with Jack and Oreo (not like being mean or anything, they were just playing, and Shyloh's claws were scratching the hairless ones skin, very frequently), so i went out and bought Shyloh's cagemate from the petstore (another hooded rex, who is actually Shyloh's brother), so that way whenever Shyloh wanted to play rougher, he could do so with his brother, Tucker. About 2 weeks after that, i fell in love with a brown dumbo rat i saw at the petstore. So i got him, and named him Remy! (He actually had to go back to the petstore 3 days after i got him so that they could treat him for a repiratory infection, and i just got him back last night.)

Car Alarm Won't Disarm!?

I have a 2004 X-Terra with an aftermarket alarm that was in the car when I bought it used. Lately, as soon as I open the door, the alarm has been going off even after I disarm it with the remote. Sometimes it just goes off when I hit the disarm on before I even open the door. The car chirps to indicate the alarm receives the signal from the remote, but it still won't disarm and just keeps going off. Obviously, the kill switch is activated when the alarm goes off, so I can't start the car either. Eventually after shutting/unlocking/locking again etc. it will finally shut off, but with no rhyme or reason. I don't know what brand it is since I didn't buy it. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

i think boys and girl have different attributes, I think boys are seen as more loving to women as girls are to fathers. I think talking about jobs i think that is society as although it is changing it is going to be a long way away from equal. mums and sons have a special bond that I'm sure you might have noticed when you have dated guys!! There are varnish's nowadays that are both varnish and stain, I'm not saying it will work, but I'd try lightly sanding one of your items needing staining, like a hidden corner of a unit that's not seen. It could save you a hell of a lot of work, probably take a couple of coats.

Washed nice shirts/jeans in hot water? ruined?

while doing my laundry, my grandmother ACCIDENTALLY (after having told her MULTIPLE times to wash my clothes in COLD water, per what the labels say [brands: LRG, Vans, Volcom, etc.] and Levis Jeans) washes it AGAIN in HOT water for the THIRD time. I'm very irritated; it's not that difficult to click cold, but based on her soviet fear for bacteria growing in un-boiled and un-sterilized clothing, she insists on washing everything in hot water. I noticed the silkscreen labels appear to more deteriorated as well as (i think) they're smaller. It truly sucks; it's new clothes, and fairly expensive, as well. The jeans I'm very upset about because EVERYONE knows that jeans go in cold water. Anyway, after this 3rd time, are the clothes ruined? I just need some consolation. From now i'm hiding my dirty laundry in a hamper in my closet and I'm gonna do it myself; but at this point, can I fix anything? Are the clothes ruined? I know this is ridiculous and i'm being paranoid and it's just clothes..... but still. It just sucks.

This may or may not be a direct question, I just need some opinions here. Last March I had a miscarriage (naturally) I offically stopped bleeding Mrach 10th. I had some bleeding on and off from April 9th through the 12th. This month I had a somewhat "normal" period from the 18th until the 23rd. Last night I had with my fiance and we used a condom like we have been since the miscarriage. Our problem is that last night, to our dismay, the condom broke, and we didn't realize it until it was too late. I'm usually very regular and I was wondering if I could already be back on track with my ovulation dates. I hope I am because that would mean it would turn out that I didn't get pregnant. But I'm not sure, what do you think? I don't want to get pregnant now, my doctor says that getting pregnant so soon after a miscarriage usually ends in another miscarriage. Should I just wait and see?

Why do some guys like smelling stinky feet?

I read some postings here about someone’s boyfriend’s brother wanting to smell their girlfriend’s feet. I’m 21 and at college out of my home state, and I was in the exact same position as this other person who posted here, but with my roommate’s brother. He’s 15 and apparently just loves feet. The first time I visited her parent’s place, sure enough, he asked me if my feet were smelly and if he could smell them. My roommate warned me about this, and she kind of ped him off and told him not to bother me each time we visit. But when visiting my last trip my roommate thought it would be funny if I let him smell my feet, but wanted to me to make them super smelly first, hopefully to turn him off. I thought it funny, and it would be real easy to do as we both are on the basketball team, and my feet do get pretty smelly just after one game. It took about 4 days in my sneakers with same socks, but wow, after that the socks could have walked away on their own. So when we got to her parent’s place this time, he of course asks. My roommate told him to take my sneakers and socks off as I sat on her couch, with both of us waiting to see his reaction, thinking he would get up and run. He starts smelling my feet, and the odor was covering the room, and he loved this!! I let him smell my feet for about 20 minutes, and I could not believe how much he liked smelling my feet when they were so stinky. It was wild! At first it was weird, but then I found it really kind of hot, and liked keeping his face under my feet and the feeling of him sniffing in and out against my smelly feet. Anyone else had any guys ask about smelling your feet?

A game may look like a forgone conclusion before tip-off, but you watch anyway, just in case a miracle happens.
