I was gonna buy the HTC Evo 4g phone, but...?

when looking through Sprints little type at the bottom of the webpage for the phone it says "Optional Sprint Mobile Hotspot add-on required to access WiFi on the device." Does this mean I wont be able to connect my phone to my Home Wireless Network to surf the net and whatever else unless I purchase the Hotspot add-on for like $30? I have a G1 now and always connect it to my router when I'm at home...it would be stupid if you had to pay $30 a month just to simply do this and not use the hotspot feature. Anyone know? I have a feeling the writing on the website is just vague.
