Should generation-x be somewhat...extended?

I keep on wondering about this whole generation thing. I was born in 1987 but I just don't feel like someone who would be a gen-y type of person. For one, I was raised in a society where divorce was really on the rise (my parents being a good example), happen to be very independent, don't really care for cell phones (and have a love-hate thing going on w/ text messaging), and not everyone was suddenly expecting children when I graduated from high school (gen-y is the "echo boom", right?). I've noticed that a lot of people who were born circa 1990 and after, were the ones raised in nurtured homes, are not the sharing-type, and know way more about technology then me, my family members, and friends who are all the same age or 2 years max. older then me. Anyone else feel this way, too?
